Scientific descriptionSTRIPER: BEAVER LAKE STRIPER FISHING IS FAIR YEAR ROUND WITH PEAK TIMES BEING SPRING (MAR-JUNE) FOR TOP WATER ACTION. SUMMER (JUNE-SEPT) FOR DEEP WATER ACTION. FALL (OCTOBER-NOV) TOP WATER ACTION. WINTER (DEC-FEB) COVER LOTS OF WATER, THIS IS WHEN AN UMBRELLA RIG CAN REALLY TEAR EM’ UP. STRIPED BASS COOKING

Scientific descriptionWHITE BASS: YEAR ROUND WITH PEAK TIMES BEING, EARLY SPRING SPAWN RUN (MID MARCH-1ST WEEK OF APRIL). MID SPRING (1ST WEEK OF APRIL-MAY) FOR TOP WATER ACTION. SUMMER (JUNE-SEPT) FAST ACTION IF YOU LOCATE ROAMING SCHOOLS THAT RELATE TO AREA’S WHERE THEY CAN CORNER SHAD. FALL (SEPTEMBER-NOV) TOP WATER ACTION, FISH START MOVING INTO RIVER IN PREPARATION FOR SPRING SPAWN. WINTER (DEC-FEB) FISH SCATTER AND BEST ACTION IS TROLLING.

Scientific descriptionHYBRID/WIPER: WILL TRAVEL WITH EITHER STRIPER OR WHITE BASS AND WILL SIZE RELATE SO THEY WILL BE FOUND WITH BOTH SPECIE.

Scientific descriptionWALLEYE: YEAR ROUND WITH THE PRESPAWN BITE BEING THE BEST. USUALLY THE 15th OF FEBRUARY THROUGH THE 15th OR SO OF MARCH IS YOUR BEST BET, ONCE THEY START ACTUALLY SPAWNING THEY WILL NOT FEED AND THAT NON FEEDING MOOD WILL CARRY OVER UNTIL ABOUT THE 10th OF APRIL BEFORE THEY REALLY GET BACK ON THE FEED. THE SUMMER BITE CAN PROVIDE FAST ACTION AND THEN OF COURSE THE FALL/WINTER BITE WHERE THEY POSITION IN PREP. FOR THE SPRING RUN.

Scientific descriptionCRAPPIE:WE HAVE 2 SPECIE. WHITE AND BLACK. SPAWNING BITE WILL PEAK IN THE 1st WEEK OF APRIL AND WILL LAST UNTIL ABOUT THE 4th WEEK IN APRIL. SUMMER IS AN EXCELLENT TIME TO PICK UP SOME REAL “SLABS” NEAR THE CHANNELS OF CREEKS OR RIVERS.

Scientific descriptionBLACK BASS: YEAR ROUND ACTION. SPAWNING PEAKS MID APRIL TO EARLY MAY. SUMMER IS GOOD FOR FISH 30ft DEEP OR MORE THAT ARE LOCATED ON STRUCTURE. THEY MOVE SHALLOW AGAIN IN THE FALL IN ORDER TO FATTEN UP FOR WINTER. THEN RELOCATING BACK TO THE DEEP HAUNTS OF SUMMER FOR THE WINTER.

Scientific descriptionScientific descriptionBLUE AND CHANNEL CATFISH: FISHING IS BEST IN THE WINTER OR THE HOT SUMMER. THESES CATS SPAWN IN EARLY TO MID SUMMER USUALLY IN EARLY AUGUST AROUND CHUNK ROCK BANKS MAKING NESTS IN BETWEEN THE LARGEST ROCKS. HOWEVER FISHIN’ FOR “EM IS GOOD YEAR ROUND! NIGHT CRAWLERS OR CUT BAIT USUALLY WORKS BEST WITH LIVER OR STINK BAIT BEIN HOTTEST IN SUMMER.

Scientific descriptionFLAT HEAD CAT: CAN PROVIDE EARLY ACTION IN THE SPRING. BUT SUMMER IS USUALLY BETTER. YOU REALLY NEED TO FISH AT NIGHT WITH LIVE BAIT NEAR HEAVY COVER. HOWEVER SOMETIMES MIDDLE OF THE DAY WITH CUT BAIT IS BEST. THE SUMMER BITE CARRIES THROUGH FALL AS A RULE WITH THE FISH BECOMING SLUGGISH AND UNCOOPERATIVE AS THE WATER TEMPS DROP INTO THE 40’s.

Scientific descriptionCARP: WE HAVE SEVERAL SPECIES INCLUDING MIRROR AND COMMON CARP. FISHING IS GOOD FROM MARCH TILL NOVEMBER. WINTER IS NOT THE BEST BUT OCCASIONALLY YOU CAN SCORE BIG. CARP WILL READILY TAKE DOUGH BAITS, WORMS, MINNOWS AND A MULTITUDE OF OTHER BAITS. FLY FISHING CAN GENERATE SOME FAST ACTION.

Scientific descriptionGAR: WE HAVE 3 SPECIES OF GAR. LONG NOSE, SHORT NOSE AND SPOTTED GAR. FISHING IS BEST MARCH-NOVEMBER AND PEAKS IN SUMMER. YOU CAN TAKE GAR WITH A VARIETY OF BAITS INCLUDING LIVE SHAD/MINNOWS OR CUT SHAD/MINNOWS IN THE DAY OR NIGHT TIME HOURS. THEY ARE EXTREMELY SUSCEPTIBLE TO WHITE NYLON FLY’S EITHER TROLLED OR CAST TO HOLDING AREA’S DURING THE DAY.

ALTHOUGH THE ABOVE INFORMATION IS BASED IN MY EXPERIENCE ON BEAVER LAKE. THE CYCLES SHOULD BASICALLY HOLD TRUE TO ANY BODY OF WATER THAT YOU FISH.
REMEMBER ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS ARE ALWAYS A FACTOR!
